Vegan leather is a sourcing category, not a blanket finished-bag claim. Composition, backing, coating, plant or recycled content and document scope vary by supplier and project. If animal-free status matters, confirm the complete approved BOM - including shell, lining, glue, thread, labels and hardware - before bulk approval.
For material background, review vegan leather material routes and recycled PU material evidence.
A German skincare brand ordered 2,000 custom cosmetic cases for a skincare set, with an MOQ of 1,000 pieces. The 15 × 11 × 8 cm case used a recycled PU outer, a transparent front display window, water-resistant lining, printed branding and a No. 5 metal zipper.
The zipper on the first sample did not move smoothly around the full opening of the case. Because the zipper had to travel around the case rather than along one straight edge, Rivta's use test identified this as a practical usability risk. Rivta worked with the zipper supplier to improve its operation, and the buyer approved the second sample.
Bulk production was completed in July 2024. A third-party inspection checked color consistency, odor, surface scratches, logo adhesion, stitching, zipper function and packing marks. The order passed inspection, shipped on schedule and was followed by a repeat order.
A cosmetic case should not be approved on appearance alone. Wraparound zipper movement must be tested through the complete opening path, especially around corners, before the buyer approves bulk production.

Evidence boundary: The project record confirms recycled PU as the outer material. The available record does not confirm the backing, coating, recycled-content percentage, certification scope or the animal-free status of the complete BOM. This case must therefore not be described as a fully vegan, plant-based or GRS-certified finished bag.
