B2B material-route and claim-scope guide
A cosmetic bag material should be selected against the buyer’s use, structure, sample evidence, document scope and destination-market requirement. “Sustainable” is a routing term for comparison; it is not a finished-product claim by itself.
1. Start with the buyer task, not an environmental adjective
A beauty GWP pouch, a structured retail case, a clear travel bag and a soft drawstring package do not need the same material. Before choosing rPET, recycled nylon, recycled cotton, TPU, PU/PVB or a plant-origin route, define what the finished bag must do.
- What products must fit, and what are their filled dimensions and weight?
- Does the bag need a soft pouch, standing base, padded wall, clear window or wipe-clean lining?
- Which parts must carry a recycled-content, natural-material or animal-free claim?
- Which destination market and buyer document list apply?
- What quantity, color split, logo method, retail packing and delivery window are planned?
These answers determine the useful material route. They also stop a broad word such as “eco-friendly” from becoming an unsupported promise in the brief.
2. Compare material routes by construction and evidence
| Route | Typical buyer use | What must be checked | Correct Rivta owner |
|---|---|---|---|
| rPET or recycled nylon | Lightweight pouches, travel organizers, quilted or wipe-friendly constructions. | Exact composition, recycled-content scope, backing/coating, lining, zipper, color and the documents for the selected grade. | rPET Cosmetic Bags for commercial RFQs; material pages for composition review. |
| Recycled cotton, cotton or canvas | Natural-looking GWP pouches, soft packaging and logo-led beauty programs. | Fiber blend, color variation, shrinkage risk, surface for printing/embroidery, lining and structure. | Canvas & Cotton Cosmetic Bags. |
| PU, recycled PU/PVB or vegan-leather route | Structured vanity cases, premium pouches, trims and retail sets. | Outer composition, backing, thickness, flexing, edge finish, odor requirement and complete BOM if an animal-free finished-product claim is required. | Vegan & PU Cosmetic Bags. |
| TPU or PVC clear-material route | Clear windows, transparent travel pouches and easy-visibility organizers. | The exact grade, thickness, flexibility, welding or sewing route, temperature/use conditions and required market tests. TPU must not be described as biodegradable without project-specific evidence. | Use the clear-bag owner for the commercial structure and the selected material page for composition. |
| Plant-origin or natural-looking materials | Programs where texture and material story are central to the brief. | Actual composition, binder/backing, coating, plastic content, durability requirement and supplier documents. A plant name does not prove plastic-free, biodegradable or compostable performance. | Natural Bags as a material route; the relevant structure page remains the commercial owner. |
3. Approve the sample by measurable checks
Material names do not prove that two bag constructions will perform the same. Compare physical samples made with the proposed grade and structure. Record the result against the actual buyer brief.
A result from one material grade or test method should not be generalized to every TPU, recycled nylon, cotton or leather alternative. If the selected grade, coating, supplier, color or construction changes, reopen the affected approval checks.
4. Control claim and document scope before quotation
Ask which exact entity a document covers: raw material, yarn, fabric, processing site, factory, transaction or finished product. Then match the public wording to that scope. Do not convert a fabric certificate or supplier statement into a blanket “fully certified bag” claim.
For recycled-content programs, confirm the selected material and the chain-of-custody or transaction evidence required for the order. For environmental marketing language, destination-market rules may require qualified, specific wording. Rivta reviews available documents against the agreed project route; it does not provide a market-wide compliance conclusion without the verified composition and applicable requirement.
5. Use the routing hub without creating a second commercial owner
The Sustainable Cosmetic Bag Materials hub helps buyers compare routes and reach the correct owner page. It is not a second manufacturer page competing with rPET, canvas/cotton or vegan/PU commercial owners.
- Use the hub when the material route is still undecided.
- Use the specific money page when the buyer already knows the material and needs MOQ, sampling and quotation.
- Use a material page when the main task is composition, certification or claim-scope review.

FAQ
Q1: What is the best sustainable material for a custom cosmetic bag?
There is no single best route. The choice depends on the bag structure, intended contents, logo, quantity, sample performance, required documents and destination-market claim.
Q2: Is TPU biodegradable?
Do not make that claim from the material name alone. Biodegradability requires evidence for the exact grade and test conditions, so Rivta does not treat standard TPU as automatically biodegradable.
Q3: Does a recycled-fabric certificate cover the complete bag?
Not automatically. Confirm whether the evidence covers raw material, yarn, fabric, processing, transaction or finished product, and review other components separately.
Q4: Can recycled nylon replace virgin nylon without testing?
No universal equivalence should be assumed. Approve the actual grade for handfeel, color, coating/backing, construction, filled use and any required test method.
Q5: Which page should receive the RFQ?
Use the sustainable-material hub while comparing routes. Once the route is selected, send the RFQ through the relevant rPET, canvas/cotton, vegan/PU or structure owner page.
