What should the RFQ say about the glitter finish?
“Blue glitter bag” is not a complete surface specification. A useful RFQ identifies the reference finish, color direction, backing or base material when known, desired texture, acceptable surface variation and the intended use. It should also state whether the buyer expects an inspection method for loose particles, surface marks or visual gaps.

How should a physical glitter pouch sample be checked?
- Photograph the sample before handling. Use the same lighting and angles for later comparison.
- Inspect high-contact areas. Check the base, side folds, seam allowance, zipper ends and points where a label or puller touches the surface.
- Open and close the zipper repeatedly. Confirm that the slider, puller and zipper tape do not scrape or trap the glitter surface.
- Use one agreed shedding check. Record the motion, contact material, number of cycles and acceptance decision. Do not replace a defined method with “looks okay.”
- Review logo legibility on the finished bag. A side-seam label, print or plate must be judged after sewing, not only on the artwork.
- Pack the finished sample. Recheck the surface after wrapping, bagging, stacking and unpacking.
Verified factory case: a glitter surface risk changed the bulk packout
In August 2024, a U.S. beauty brand ordered 500 bonded-glitter-fabric cosmetic pouches for a skincare gift program. The MOQ for the project was 300 pieces. The lined trapezoid pouch measured W11.5/18 × H10 × D7 cm and used a side-seam woven label with individual packing.
The first physical sample showed loose glitter particles. The buyer was concerned that surface contact during handling and transport could reduce the sparkling appearance. The material route was not changed, and Rivta did not claim that the finished pouch would have zero shedding.
The approved bulk packout fully wrapped each finished pouch in copy paper before it entered the individual polybag. This reduced direct decorative-surface contact and abrasion during normal handling. Bulk production was completed and delivered. Appearance and dimensions were checked, and no batch issue was recorded. The buyer did not reorder.
Buyer lesson: packaging can reduce secondary surface contact; it cannot prove that a glitter textile is shedding-free. Approve the actual surface and an agreed inspection method before bulk, then approve the packout with the finished bag.

Regulatory boundary: microplastic and material-restriction rules vary by destination market. What can protective packout solve—and what can it not solve?
Interleaving paper or wrapping a finished bag can reduce direct contact between decorative surfaces. It may also prevent zipper pulls, woven labels or adjacent bags from rubbing one another in the polybag or carton. Those are packaging-control functions.
Packout does not change the underlying bond between the glitter layer and its backing. It does not correct bare areas, poor edge finishing, surface cracking or an unsuitable material route. It also does not prove shipment performance without an agreed packaged-product test. ISTA procedures evaluate product-and-package combinations rather than certifying one packaging material by itself.2
